Are you an experienced IT project manager looking for a different challenge? Pride yourself on your strategic planning abilities? If so, we might have the perfect job for you.

Wessex Water is the top performing water and sewerage company in the UK, serving 2.8 million customers across the south west of England. It is part of the Wessex Water Group, which comprises a number of other companies, alongside our regulated business, including engineering and construction, property development and waste management and renewable energy services.

Our Information Services department provides an end-to-end service to a wide range of internal customers, encompassing IT development, delivery and support. We are a key element in the successful growth and expansion of the Wessex Water Group, across both our regulated and unregulated businesses.

Our team is made up of over 150 people in the UK and offshore - working on over 50 project and support activities. In order to deliver cost effective yet innovative and technically superior service to our customers across the group, it is vital that we manage our people resources effectively and efficiently.
As the resource scheduling manager, you will be responsible maximising utilisation of IS resources at minimum cost. You will achieve this through a strategic, long-term approach, and the maintenance of a clear and detailed resource plan, thereby minimising risk of delays, project clashes and cost over-runs.

At the same time, you will need to schedule non-IS resources into activities too. In a governance capacity, you will be responsible for the department's resource management processes, and overseeing adherence to these.

Day to day, this means you'll be liaising with project and functional managers to ensure correct allocation of resources; highlighting where changes will affect resource requirements or where planned activities may clash; negotiating and renegotiating resource allocations to ensure continued delivery of IS services. Alongside this you will develop and maintain tools to provide governance, clarity and visibility of resources for all IS managers.

To be successful, you are likely to have a technical degree and some experience of strategic planning and third party management within an IS environment, lending you credibility with your customers. You will be adept at using Microsoft Project, ideally Project Online, and the usual suite of Microsoft Office products, as well as developing complex Excel spreadsheets.

Your well-developed interpersonal skills will be key to this role, enabling you to work effectively across a range of senior stakeholders; translating complex technical issues where needed.

Strong influencing and facilitation abilities are vital, as are excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. While you must be able to collate, order and process data to deliver information, and identify trends and inconsistencies, this will be at a strategic, rather than tactical level. You will be working in a fast moving environment with rapidly evolving targets, and must be able to prioritise according to fast changing dynamics.

In return we offer a range of benefits including:

* Defined contribution pension scheme.
* 24 days' holiday rising to 28 with length of service.
* Childcare vouchers.
* Cycle2Work scheme.
* Discounts and cashback scheme from more than 1,200 high street and online suppliers.

Please remember you must be able to prove your eligibility to work in the UK and provide evidence of qualifications gained. All offers of employment will be subject to a Basic Disclosure Criminal Records check.
